About performing

Make Music Portland is all about shining a spotlight on area musicians and bringing free music to the streets of Portland.

We encourage all forms of participation, whether that means banging a symbol on a street corner, getting together and jamming with friends in the backyard, or signing up with us and registering for a spot at one of our official venues.

We only have two rules.

First, all public performances are free to attend and free to participate in. Make Music Portland is a totally free event.

Second, while all public space around Portland will be permitted for music, we ask that performers be respectful of other musicians around them. Please, no competing performances, unless that’s your setup.

We’ll be making music on June 21 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Feel free to grab an instrument, or your a cappella group, and make music in any public space around town. Or talk to your friends and neighbors about holding your own private performances at home. Either way, feel free to shoot us an email to let us know what you’re doing and tell us how we can help.

Registration to be included on the 2020 schedule will open in March. To build our schedule and connect performers with places to play, we use matchmaking software provided by the Make Music Alliance. It’s really simple. Check back in March to create your artist profile!
