Make Music Portland 2020

An important message from the MMP team:

Dear Make Music Portlanders,
After much deliberation and in following suit with cities around the world, due to the COVID-19 health situation, we are disappointed to announce that we will not be moving forward with the traditional outside Make Music Day events on Sunday, June 21st. We want to keep everyone safe and healthy, so instead, we will come together virtually to celebrate music, our community, and our state. While the majority of our performances normally take place in Portland, being completely virtual this year will allow us to expand our reach beyond the city lines, and connect with musicians across the state of Maine. Make Music Portland 2020 is happening virtually on Sunday, June 21. Join us as well celebrate the Maine music community with livestream concerts, lesson, and play-a-long events. Check check back soon for details on how to get involved.

Make Music Portland is a day-long, totally free musical event, aimed at bringing local performers into the spotlight. Along with hundreds of cities around the world, every year on June 21 we ring in the longest day of the year with music and artistry. Join us as we fill local parks, restaurants, backyards, and public and private spaces with hundreds of performances, ranging in style and genre.

This is a free event. There are no costs to attend any performance, or to come join us making music. In addition, we organize free community events (think jam sessions, musical lessons, and the like) that happen throughout the day on June 21.

A branch of the international Fête de la Musique, Make Music Portland is a community organized event, with the generous help of dedicated local volunteers. We are always looking for new ideas, new volunteers, and fresh input. Shoot us an email if you’re curious.

If you would like to reach us for any other reason (hosting a performance, volunteering, being a community partner/sponsor, or for any reason) please send us an email.
